This piece was created by Ayu Lestari, a young woodcarver from a small village near Ubud, Bali. Coming from a long line of craftsmen, Ayu is one of the few women in her community continuing the tradition of wood carving, a skill she learned from her father and older brothers.
 
Her work blends traditional Balinese techniques with a more modern, refined style. Rimba Raya, meaning “endless forest,” reflects Ayu’s deep connection to the natural world and her desire to share her culture through her hands. As an aspiring artist, she hopes her carvings inspire more young women to take pride in their heritage and follow their creative path.
